Odd. You'd think Honda would have taken that into consideration. They copy
things really well - and the NSX was supposed to be a supercar copy without
the maintanence problems. When Mazda built the 1st Miata they went to great
pains to make it sound like a sports car - old style, like from the 60's.
I wonder if something like a Tubi is available for the NSX? I admit I love the car - the looks at least. I'm sure it drives much like a Prelude or Accord - but it's pretty much bulletproof from what I hear - except it likes to eat rear tires - something about the rear alignment.

First time I drove a NSX, the MD that I worked for tossed me the keys. I was so excited I could hardly stand it. Got in, started it up.....just like my Prelude Took off....quick....just like my Prelude but faster Chassis.... Very stiff laterally, but rode, JUST LIKE MY Prelude! Had fun in the car, but felt let down afterward.

The first NSX I saw was on the 101 Freeway in Thousand Oaks - Ohhhhh,
coooool. I roll down the window and pull up behind it to listen and I hear
Yeah, Nuthin. From then on, it was a neat look wanna be. Might as well
have been one of those tin colored things from a few years ago.
Alas
DOUG Our little 1971 911T Porsche is a light, nimble, point and shooter. The 1982 911SC is a cruiser. The 78GTS is in-between.

http://lists.ferrarilist.com/mailman/options/ferrari/steve%40stevejenkins.coCould it be that the driving experience of the older cars is more unique?
Nowadays, a 360 can feel (not sound) like any number of modern cars with the same interior materials, steering feel and shift action due to cost metering capitalism and basic business economics.
In the old days, a Ferrari, Aston, Porsche and Lambo all felt very, very different. This isn't the case as much nowadays.
Did the NSX officially and secretly kill the "cool exotic car"?

I don't know if my tastes have "changed" per se, but I will say that my appreciation for how things "used to be" has increased. It's hard to argue with the performance numbers of the newer cars. They are amazing. But as far as looks go, I still love the 80s and 90s. I was a high school kid in the 80s, so maybe that's why.

I address this question to the entire list, and Jenkins in particular since he owns a majority of the V8 lineup...
How have you found your tastes change over the years with the particular F cars that you have owned or actively followed as an enthusiast?
For example, back in '98 if you were to ask me my favorite V8s I would have said.....308, 328, 355....I shared critical disdain for the 348. My favorite 12s were Testarossa and 512M. The 512 TR looked a little funny to me back then compared to the other TRs...
Now if I had to pick V8 and Flat-12 (modern) it'd most likely be 348 and 512 TR, and not just for the driving experiences, but for looks too, lol. Granted it could be because I've driven them....but over the years you begin to learn the ins and outs of these cars and there are certain subtleties in certain models that appeal to us more than others.
The 355 has a wonderful, timeless look, and perhaps the best sounding n/a V8 from Maranello.....but is it as "soft" as some people say it is? (the optimist in me knows somewhere out there are a few examples with the power steering delete ;-)
This thread has the potential to cause a riot and useless garbage if posted on the typical boards...but I know I can expect QUALITY from "THE LIST".
:-)
