Larry -

Daisy-chaining outlets is the standard.

Based on your description of the problem, my expectation is that you
have another GFI outlet somewhere in the house which has tripped. In
order to save money, electricians don't place a GFI outlet in every
place that one might be needed. Instead, they place a GFI outlet at the
beginning of the daisy-chain, and then that outlet serves as the GFI
breaker for all outlets further down the chain.

I had a problem just like yours when I had my house pressure washed.
After the wash, I no longer had power to any of my porch outlets, none
of which were GFI. The breaker was fine. After searching for about two
days, I found another GFI outlet in my garage hidden behind my large
roll-around toolbox. This GFI was in front of the porch outlets on that
circuit, so when the pressure washer sprayed the outlet on the porch,
the garage GFI tripped before the main breaker. As I said, I had to look
a LONG time to find that outlet. That garage outlet had no physical
proximity to the porch outlets, so there was nothing to suggest the
relationship. Electricians can do whatever they want as far as
organizing outlet wiring, so you may have to check every one in the
house looking for another GFI.

The other thing you can do is use a voltmeter to make sure there is
power leaving the breaker for the bedroom. It is possible that the
breaker itself is bad. However, if you have little or no experience with
high-voltage, call an electrician. Your life is worth a lot more than a
$70 service call.

Cheers!

Howdy --
Sorry about the Off Topic question - but I know I can count on
ya;ll, The wall oitlets in the Master Bedroom have lost all power. Last
evening, we were getting ready for bed and noticed the TV in our BR was
turned off.
Found out all the wall outlets (4) were depowered (if that's a word). I
checked the circuit breaker - turned it completely off then back on -
without any change. Checked the GFI in the 2 bathrooms and both are ok
and both outlets are providing power.

I can only think the wiring to the outlets is "daisy-chained" and
the 1st in the link in the BR is bad - broken outlet, loose wire or some
other problem with one outlet. Without a wiring diagram I have no way
of knowing which is 1st in the chain - although some logic tells me it
one of 2 possibilities out of 4 total outlets - thinking the 2 "middle"
outlets are unlikely to be the 1st in the chain.

Is it common practice to daisy chain the wiring to outlets?

Any ideas about what might have caused this? The electrical devices
- clocks, phones, lamps, etc. were all on when my wife went into the
bathroom to shower - when she got out, the TV was off and she assumed I
had turned it off.

    Other than installing new outlets & I admit that's a long shot - I'm
at a loss. Wish I knew more about electrical stuff --

TIA -
