Gavin - Pull your lights on at night - it is the bulb that should light up 
the console.  It may be burned out or removed.  Trick idea - but just as 
nice as the cigarette lighter - which is NOT self contained and so all the 
cigarette smoke from a freshly lit fag coats the under part of your console, 
the electrics and all connectors.
