It also saved the life of a 22 year old kid who was wrongfully accused of  
Rape, Sodomy, Arson and Murder. Science in the courtroom is now a fact of life. 
 
If we are to preserve important protections for society such as the death  
penalty we must move as far forward as possible, as fast as possible to use  
science to protect the rights of the (wrongfully, amongst others) accused at  
trial.
 
Just look to what the numerous "Innocence Projects" have proven over the  
last decade.
