It's carried on well thru the ages Willie. I have witnessed several track related tragedies, the most vivid in recent memory was the loss of Greg Moore of CART at Fontana in 1999, I think it was. He hit the inside wall with such force that a track EMT responder who was my brothers roommate said his visor was completely bloodsoaked from the inside. Poor Canuck didn't have a chance.
