Geez - that must be irritating as hell. Had something similar when I sold our sailboat. A couple of people did that - except after working out a price they'd start asking about making weekly payments. Uhhh... sorry - no thanks.

It happens all the time. At least a couple of times a week I will have someone call or e-mail and ask "what's your best price." No questions, no request for photos or more info., etc. Just want to know the bottom dollar. I usually come back with questions like do you have a trade, are you paying cash or financing, coming in to pick the ca up or transporting it, and if we can come to an agreeable price how soon would you fund the deal? Separates the tire kickers from the real buyers quickly (not that too many real buyers come with this approach to begin with). But the most frustrating is when people make an offer, I accept it and then they ell me they don't have the money or are not ready to buy yet. So why make an offer? After 11 years it still doesn't make sense!

Gotta question/observation ya'll might be able to shed some light on for me -
I've been trying to sell a 89 Ford Van with a Wheelchair lift for a few months - it's limited market, older van but in excellent condition. I've advertised in the paper, local trading post, a Handicapped Dealer Newsletter and Auto Trader.
Had one really good prospect -- but his wheelchair wouldn't work with my lift - and the others were mostly people who called to get details and before they even look at it they want to know if I'll lower the price. Seems a little forward to me. I don't mind talking price but these people never even looked at it to know how reasonable the price was already.
The worst part was after talking for 1/2 hour I never hear from them again. Are there that many lonely people out there?
Brian B - does this happen to you a lot? Must get frustratiing -
