Peter, Rick, etc:
Don't forget that GT4's have (or in many cases *had*) a switch hooked to the throttle linkage that enabled an extra set of point that retarded the timing by 10deg at idle. Since you are now all electronic, you can either figure out a way to retard at idle (probably not necessary), or set the timing at the factory setting minus 10deg - which is what I have done. So your current setting is probably near optimum, actually......

To what end, Rick? Measure what? I know what it usually is...with and without anti-pollution setting, as per the manual. I was just wondering if there are benefits or downsides to it. I'm not scientific enough to understand what goes on in a combustion chamber with changes to timing. Oh...i have 10:1 pistons too...if that adds anything to the conversation.

Our Friend Peter Henrys there in Melbourne also has a 308GT4 of similar age. Perhaps you could make some similar measurements with Peter?
