I can tell you I do not have a crystal ball but they will NOT hold a premium. You have to consider for example the Quattroporte in this judgment. The Duo-Select trans cars were rather clunky themselves and I have one associate who owns an F/M dealership with at least 14 QP's in stock that just aren't moving. Some of these are actually the new automatic version. The word is not out yet on what a great driver the new auto is. People are also unaware that it is a 612 chassis on these cars. That being the case the cars are growing hair. The new GT, should it get the press I think it deserves, may actually keep a decent value and be what Maserati needs. I would say that once the silly premium hoopla has died down that those cars may be sitting as well in readily available status. Just by the way the market moves on anything but Ferraris and of course the opposite end of the spectrum Astons, I would think that a $120k MSRP car with under 5k miles would be in the $85k-$90k range in a year if they sell well. PLEASE, NOBODY SAVE THIS EMAIL AND SEND IT TO ME NEXT YEAR IF IT TURNS OUT I'M WAY OFF. I DO NOT HAVE A CRYSTAL BALL!!!! Remember, I am working in the current market and I know the offers I have now and what I buy them for now. I would think you should to hear how fellow lister Brain Buxton feels regarding this subject and then combine both of our opinions to get a better idea. Right now it's all speculation.

I have my eye on the GranTurismo car as my next daily driver (if all goes
well, less than a year from now -- I never buy new). Until I saw the changes
made in this new model, I had been planning on a pre-owned F575 or clean
550.
My criteria for this next car of mine is simple: I'm looking for a "driver's
car" with timeless, classic lines and uncomplicated mechanicals (at least as
uncomplicated as possible today). I'd opt for no navigation and a
gate-shifter, but on the latter, I don't that's possible on the Masi. A
point to Ferrari on that one.
I plan on driving this car as often, and as far as I want, probably doing 5-8K mi/year (miles=dollars be damned), and am hopeful that the long term cost of ownership in this Masi may be improved over a 575/550.
Since you know the Marque's recent market history better than I, let me ask:
how quickly do you think they will fall in price, post-purchase, and are
they fussy or are they of a durable design?
Thanks, Bob

I receive my first 08 GT in the middle of October. It's Black over Beige.
MSRP on it is actually $119,150.00. Remember, I buy and sell these things
for a living. I already have an offer from another F/M dealership for the
car at a little over MSRP. With the new automatic mated to paddle shifters
it is sure to be quite fun and as stated in the R&T article a lot less
clunky. The shame is I will only drive it the day I get
it......miles=dollars you know. It is a very beautiful design however. If I
could attach things to these emails I would send you guys the build sheet. I
am told that some dealers will ask in the $20k to perhaps $30k over range. I
think to purchase one there would be foolish as of course one would lose all
of that and then some. But again, sure to be a very nice car.

The new issue of R&T (Nov) has a short thing about this new addition to
the Maser line. With a V8 & 405hp, and a very high level of fit 'n
finish,
it will hopefully sell like Italian hotcakes. The part most noticible
was
the photo - from bumper level at 25feet it's an incredibly beautiful
design
IMHO. Priced at $110K it's out of my price range - hopefully some or all
of ya'll will buy one so I can live vicariously through you. ;-) Drive
it
hard and fast then tell me all about it.
Hmmm I wonder if I could convince a dealership to let me borrow one for
the weekend? <lol> Doubtful, *real* doubtful. ;-) About as likely as
the
ferrari dealer letting me borrow a F430 to see how I like it. ;-) They
obviously have more sense than that!
Love this car!!
