And the latter 2/3 is exactly what I want to get rid of!
The factory dizzy's are $300 EACH! The rotors are ridiculous as well and to
hell with mechanical advance!

Ditto, my mechanic installed a pair of the Crane XR700's in my 78 308GTS as
well. Completely reversible, and started every time!

You need properly serviced factory distributors with advancing mechanisms
working properly though. And you still are stuck with factory caps and
rotors.

The first thing I did after taking delivery of my 208 Shitbox in 1999, was
to have a Crane XR700 electronic ignition installed for WAY less than $400
with no modifications to the engine. I've put 40k miles on it without any
problems. Every time I turn the key, it starts. No fouled plugs, etc. It
just starts, unless the battery is dead, which has happened twice because of
my own stupidity . It's even hidden away, so the purists can't snivel.

To expound on Ricks thread, I'm planning on putting in an electronic
ignition in my GT4 this winter. Anyone do this to their 308?? Results?
Advice, tips?
I'm going to be using an Electromotive ignition. Ill need to have cam end
plugs made as well as end plates. Anyone have this done? Ill need a source
for those. Also, the other thing ill need is to have a plate made up to
mount the coils on. Will be looking for a source for those as well.
