Dave, not too long ago I read that Glock handguns had injured more police  
officers that carried then (due to accidental discharges), than have shot bad  
guys while in the hands of police officers. Personally, though I know that  
they are less expensive than a Sig, I don't understand why professionals whose  
life may depend on this particular tool at some phase of their career would  
choose to carry a Glock, but many do. It must be the same reason why some folks 
 
drive Vipers and Corvettes rather than Ferraris.
 
Please slow down and take a deep breath my friend on my choice of the  
Taurus. The "Judge" was bought for two specific purposes, it sits by the bed in 
 the 
bedroom (if someone gets there it is pretty much CQB and the loading I use,  
two .410s, then two .45 Long Colts and another .410 is designed just right for 
 that purpose. If I have to go down stairs I have a Rem. shotgun with open  
sights, #4 3' mag. buchshot, followed by a slug and alternating for the entire  
extended magazine capacity and then a SigSauer 229 with a laser sighting 
device.  And then, if he makes me really, really mad, well............you do 
the  
math.
 
The other use for the "Judge" is as a snake gun when I go out off-roading,  
or in the desert in the G-wagen or Bronco. And it is quite excellent for that  
purpose. My H&R Handygun is just too valuable to carry around and abuse like  
that any more.
 
Yes, the "Judge" is way too big and ungainly to be used as a conventional  
defense revolver but it does have its place in the world.
 
Incidentally, my wife, currently a Chief of Police, and like me a veteran  of 
a tactical team, only in her case with a local police agency, still carries a 
 .357mag. revolver. Uses speedloaders as well. And my suggestion to any bad 
guys  in her town would be if you want a gunfight just drive a little farther 
down the  road to increase your survivability quotient.
