Fantastic tech/info Hans, thanks! On the subject of Vettes...anybody know what a road racing prepped mid year ('63-67) weighs in at? LS ----- Original Message ---- From: Hans E. Hansen <FList [at] hanshansen.org> To: LS <lashdeep [at] yahoo.com> Cc: The FerrariList <ferrari [at] ferrarilist.com> Sent: Sunday, March 2, 2008 12:27:49 PM Subject: Re: [Ferrari] Crushed Cars The original Grand Sports had a unique engine - 377CID, IIRC. It wasn't like anything before or since. The 'big block' used in production Vettes (starting 1965) was referred to as the Mark IV, and I *think* the GS engine was called the Mark II. Since these engines were one-off (OK, six-off....) they are quite valuable and essentially unrepairable. So when you see a GS at some historic event, it will almost certainly have just a garden variety small block in it. The cars only weighed around 2200 lbs, so they will pull the front tires off the ground in high gear regardless of what is powering them. Hans.
