Hi Tom,
You wrote <<in most cases, the editors and/or publishers of newspapers are rather wealthy conservative types>>

Not sure where you got that but I believe the largest, most influential papers are very liberal - NYT, Globe and Wa Post as you suggest.

But I think the term Liberal Journalists is intended more to describe the news readers on network TV - I saw somewhere that few Americans get their news from Newspapers anymore - less than 10% IIRC. But the Big 3 as they are known (NBC/CBS/ABC) reach many more viewers than the cable news outlets although that's changing. But even if it changes, only one 1 cable news channel presents a balanced approach - Fox News. CNN, MSNBC, etc are one sided.

Anyway - I know it's easy to jump from Liberal Journalists to Newspapers but who ever wrote it probably intended to include the TV talking heads. They have distorted the news for a long time. Witness the Tet offensive during the Viet Nam war - it was a huge military defeat for the VC but the media reported it as a defeat on our side. IIRC the VC leaders said they lost ~50,000 fighters during that offensive effectively destroying the backbone of experienced fighters for a very long time. but the media turned it around for them and they were able to recover much more quickly - it's always easier to recover following a victory than a defeat.

Walter Chronkite - the most trusted man in America at one time, saw the carnage and said "the war is lost" - which I suspect he believed but he didn't base his comment on a complete understanding of the situation.

Oh well, that's old news.

Have a nice weekend!
;-)

The Liberal Media, as you put it, are basically the poor schleps who go out every day and cover the homicides, police blotter, city council meetings, etc. Now, true, there do seem to be a few Liberal papers out there (the New York Times and Boston Globe might spring to mind) but in most cases, the editors and/or publishers of newspapers are rather wealthy conservative types.
There was a story on the radio about a week ago, can't remember exactly where or when, now, having to do with the question of "Does it help or hinder for a newspaper to give their endorsement to a candidate?"

 Isn't that an oxymoron?

The Liberal media has greatly contributed to the downfall of our country. They can go to hell!
