The current Agip Sint products are synthetic blends, but I do not know what
they were 30 years ago. They may have had synthetic additives or base stock,
but I doubt they were a true synthetic. In the US Agip has a 5W-50 Synthetic
motor oil available. It has excellent cold flow abilities with its 5W
designation, and is a 50 weight. As others have mentioned, in an older engine,
you likely want the film strength of a heaver 40-50 weight oil.
