Rick,

Knowing that you are a perfectionist when it comes to restoring your cars, you won't be happy with anything other then a TIG. The important thing with a TIG if you've not used one before is to buy yourself a lesson package at a community college or similar. One night a week for 6 weeks will save you lots of grief and frustration. I'd recommend that for any type of welder you buy, unless you have used that type before. I took a MIG class years ago and it changed my welding from Captain Blobby to Mister silky-flow - well almost :)
