Hey cLyDe: Sorry, but we didn't all know that the Vodoo was called the 'widow maker.' At least Doug and I didn't. The Starfighter got that name early on, after test pilot Ivan Kinchlow (sp?) was killed, flying out of Edwards AFB. Ahh, that's what I recall. If I remember correctly, this thing ejected pilots downward - or am I confusing it with something else? DOUG Yeah, F104 - the widow maker. Some one quipped if you want an F104, buy an acre of land in Germany. Guess these were NATO fighters. ----- Original Message ----- From: "LS" <lashdeep [at] yahoo.com> To: "DOUG" <dnt [at] dock.net> Cc: "The FerrariList" <ferrari [at] ferrarilist.com> Sent: Tuesday, July 08, 2008 6:22 AM Subject: Re: [Ferrari] what is this? > On a flight for GE to get promo pics, an F104 got too close to a wing on > the XB and the vortex sucked it over. > The F104 did an inverted roll over top of both rear stabilizers and > vaporized (due to JP4 fuel instability?).
