They're like diapers - it depends. Some manufacturers seem more interested in cosmetics - a Chevy will not pass muster if it has a stained carpet. Mechanically they assume all is OK and simply slap on an extended warranty. I think some of the exotics check the cars over a bit better, as in some cases they include older cars. Worth it? It's relative. What is the dealer charging compared to what you can find a similar car for. The difference may be large enough that you could buy the cheaper car and afford some repairs. Then again, maybe not. Hans.
