My neighbor has a 1950s firetruck, and lets me borrow it whenever I want. I
drive it in parades from time to time. He keeps trying to sell it to me, but
I tell him I won't consider it until he stops letting me borrow it. :)

And God invented GPS for a reason! ;)

Steve:

While, of course, you don't have a Fire Engine like mine, so that is always

an alternative, but should you seek to avoid the curiosity-seekers that it
attracts I'd have to recommend that you find yourself an earlier model MB
G-wagen and do something new for a while, play on the trails. It will amaze
you
how much there is to explore, though you are considering an H1 that might
not
be exactly correct, with a different type of vehicle.

And, when you get back into your Ferrari, you will just appreciate its
different character even more.

A couple of years ago, during my last tour at Ft. Huachuca I got out the
GPS
and decided to find the exact location where Geronimo surrendered the last
of the Apache nation. Took a couple of trips but it was like one of those
old
fashioned road rallyes (pre-GPS) where things were done with time/distance
calculations using stop watches and odometers. A lot of challenge with an
interesting outcome.

And with a GPS backup, its pretty safe just in case. Next year we'll try
out
some newly acquired skills navigating with a sextant. Longer distances and
times, but more challenging as well. If I could ever finish healing I could
go
back to practicing no-gyro GCA's as well but that is another story for
another time.

Anyway, in the end free advice is worth exactly what you pay for it and
you'll have to make up your own mind since it is your money, but sometimes a

variety of capabilities in an automotive stable is an asset.
