You're DEAD wrong. I've paid it, and I complained about it then and 
I'll complain about it now. If you think it's about the small amount 
of money it adds to the overall purchase price, then you miss the 
ENTIRE point. It's about paying EVEN MORE money to the FedGov Corp 
than almost any other person I know. Then, making things much more 
tolerable, I'm told by someone who doesn't pay such fees that I'm not 
patriotic for complaining about it. Gotchas and fees that are 
designed specifically to soak the rich are IMMORAL and have no basis 
except class envy and income redistribution. For 2000-2007, my wife's 
and my Federal Tax Burden was larger than ALL MY OTHER EXPENSES 
COMBINED. That's right, over 50% of our monthly outlays was Federal 
Taxes. Having to pay another $10,000 just for the privilege of owning 
a car that I worked hard all my life to afford is OFFENSIVE at the least.

If you think such taxes don't have a squelching effect, then you're 
DEAD wrong (again). It was a major consideration that caused me to 
avoid a new 348 and a new 355. I bought used specifically to avoid 
the luxury tax and gas guzzler taxes. One only needs to look to the 
luxury tax and how it absolutely KILLED the yacht business in this 
country. Not all new Ferrari buyers are rock stars and celebrities 
with millions to blow. According to some older Ferrari info (I don't 
know about now), over half their buyers are businessmen and 
individuals making relatively nominal salaries, so $10,000 or $20,000 
is still a sting. But it's more about seeing that combined with 
paying tremendous amounts of other taxes as well.

Funny how so many people who don't pay and have never paid 
significant amounts of taxes think that those who do are just whining about it.

Frankly, I'm tired of being the butt-monkey of a society full of 
whiners and beggars. When my parents pass, I'm outta here. Let some 
other chump pay for the bullshit.
