The *real* problem is dried up grease - both in the motor gearbox and in the various pulleys, etc. in the window mechanism. Proof positive: I have a nearly 35 year old car that has windows that operate just fine, without extra wiring or relays. I think that it has survived simply because the car has never been subject to either extreme heat or cold. Thus, I think..., the grease hasn't gone to a total state of solidification. Anyway, I think that if you totally hosed down the various pulleys, gears, etc. with brake clean and re-greased, you could have fully functioning windows and save yourself a lot of trouble. Again...... My 35 year old windows work perfectly!!!!! Hans.
