I have been having the same problem. one thing to consider is most HDs I've 
looked at are for SATA HDs and my existing HDs are IDE - so a different 
controller is needed unless I but new HD/s.

Also, if you want to use some PCI cards you'll find the newer MBs often only 
have 2 slots.

Things are still changing in the world of puters -

The ASUS seem to be high quality altho there's always lots of off brands 
with lower prices.
There's other quality MBs besides ASUS of course - the prices run from 
around $30 up to several hundred - there's probably some more than that but 
I never look at them .

Tried a used one bought from a local source - didn't completely fire up so 
I'll probably check it to see what wires I forgot to hook up ;-)  replacing 
MBs are a PITA BTW -
