Perhaps the device works like a thermotime switch in that the "resistance" is actually a heating coil around a bi-metal strip. If the circuit perhaps measures the time until the contacts break, the oil would alter the warm-up rate if present. If not, as in low oil level,the time would be much shorter. Okay, that's a viable mechanism but is it THE mechanism? Who knows. I must experiment further. rick > I guess I should also mention that: a) the photos I saw were > from a > 3.2.
