My wife's Mercedes yellow oil level sensor light comes on quite often. It is supposed to indicate oil level but is only accurate on fresh clean oil. But with a 140k mile engine, and the oil has carboned up a bit, it becomes an intermittant nuisance regardless of level. I deduce clean to be a major factor because when I have the oil changed, the light stays off for several months and level is still near full, it becomes intermittant again. When I add oil myself between changes topping it off, the light will stay off only for a few weeks and become intermittant although stick level is still almost full. I've not paid attention to how quickly the Ferrari oil carbons up, but chances are it could be made to work reliably at least until you add the first oil after a change. Worth fooling with.
