It is probably a good idea to do it, I have not experienced any of the
factory timing marks (assembly marks) to be off by more than 1degree, but if
yours are then it is a bit of insurance to assure 100% accuracy.

My car is currently in for a belt change. The mechanic ask me if I wanted him to degree the cams and make a reference mark for future use. He said that there wasn't anything of "real use" on the cams in the early years. He's charging me an extra 3 hours for this. Hans. Basically you need to degree your cams to check for accuracy if you feel they are off. There are some great threads written about this process. The general concensus is that the marks are 'reference only' marks and should not be trusted until verified.FWIW, YMMV Jim ------Original Message------ From: Peter Pless To: Jim Cc: The FerrariList Subject: [Ferrari] Cam timing Sent: Dec 3, 2008 8:27 AMHas anyone ever experienced the cam timing marks on a ferrari engine being inaccurate? If so, was it because they weren't the original heads or cams,or was it just a factory stuff up? _________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe or modify your subscription options, please visit: http://lists.ferrarilist.com/mailman/options/ferrari/jimshadow%40verizon.net Sponsored by BooyahMedia.com and F1 Headlines http://www.F1Headlines.com/ Sent from my BlackBerry(R) smartphone with SprintSpeed _________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe or modify your subscription options, please visit: http://lists.ferrarilist.com/mailman/options/ferrari/flist%40hanshansen.org Sponsored by BooyahMedia.com and F1 Headlines http://www.F1Headlines.com/_________________________________________________________________ To unsubscribe or modify your subscription options, please visit: http://lists.ferrarilist.com/mailman/options/ferrari/wade%40fortunemotors.com Sponsored by BooyahMedia.com and F1 Headlines http://www.F1Headlines.com/
