Ferrari Mailing List: No DVD and a rebuild question

I just got bad news fro The Book Community. My copy of The Cobra Wars was 
destroyed in shipment and nobody seems to have one for sale, including e-bay 
and Amazon. 

A rebuild question: I got the head rebuilt and installed on my 81 308 GTSi. I'd 
like to spin the engine on the starter to do a compression test before putting 
it back in the car. However, the sump and oil filter are drained. I can fill 
the sump, but the filter and oil galleries will have to fill before any oil 
pressure builds and oil gets to the heads from the oil pump.

So, can I pour fill the oil galleries from the top of the engine at the oil 
inlet to the filter? Similarly, can I pour fill the filter? I've never tried it 
with an inverted "trapped volume" filter. Once all this is done, should I 
slowly rotate the crankshaft manually before turning it over on the starter 
motor?
