Hello Bill,The engine on the 308/328 does not need to be removed to do a major service. All is done from top side and through the passenger wheel well.
Engine removal on the 308/328 is only accomplished from the top, the 3x8 cars have a full rigid chassis, not a sub frame like Testarossa/348/355 so the engine is unbolted from its 4 chassis mounts and pulled from the top side.

Why would'nt you pull the body off the engine and transaxle rather than remove engine from top? If i'm mistaken please save me from a painful learning experience.
