Altho I do much of the work on my car, I leave the major stuff to someone who actually knows what he's doing. So I don't have first hand experience. However..... I've never seen the engine removed for a 308 major. Belts, valve adjust, etc. should be all do-able from the top with engine in place. As far as removal, seems the 308 "sidewinder" motor gets removed from the top, and the later "north-south" cars (348, etc.) get taken out from the bottom together with a subframe holding all the goodies. I *think* parts of the frame would interfere with bottom removal on the 308. Just guessing, Hans.
