Not much holds up to 8 lbs of goose at 400 mph.... You would just be adding metal shards to the goose shards that went through the engine...

Why can't strong metal screens, in a nose cone or bullet shape (perfected by 
Madonna),   say with a 3 or 4 inch grid, be used to keep the larger birds out 
of the compressor intakes?  Would it Eff up the intake air too much?
