Quite true. I dated a flight attendant for a few years and the amount of
training they get for this is way beyond what most people understand.
Couple that with the crap they have to put up with from passengers who
still think of them as air-waitresses and it makes it all the more
impressive that they can do what this crew did.

I know we're joking around a bit, and we can do that because one
incredibly talented flight crew brought 150+ people home safely after an
incident well beyond anyone's control, damaged their machine. 

I fly a lot - as a passenger.  And I for one have great respect for, and
trust in, the professionalism of the flight crews.  Hell, my ass is on
the line - and I like my ass!  Hell, I even like Clyde most of the time.
:-P

We should be writing, "Thank you."
