Yeah

That would be painful but I lived with that before with the 348... The maintenance costs are really about how much your willing to live with and what other stuff you could do with that money, and Ferrari's that old do not depreciate as quickly as other cars, so you could justify that to yourself as the depreciation cost. I like having the motor behind me in my sports cars and to be sitting ahead of the rotational center a bit, when you are turning in, you really get thrown through the turn ahead of the car, its a bit more of a rush than having the weight in front of you... I'm fairly content with the Vette for the moment its definitely very pretty and very fast and very livable, I think my next car will be an older one or maybe a kit car (I still love the Ultima GTR) that I can spend time restoring/building when my son gets a bit older (once he hits 10 to 12 Years). Every barn in Southern Wisconsin has a decent candidate for a restoration it seems. In the meantime probably I'll get a kid cart and a proper cart and go racing with him (if he wants to do that).

The 355 would be a perfect F car if it kept everything except its power steering (the 348 had much better steering feel/feedback) and went a bit stiffer on the suspension. The 308 and 328 are beauties but not enough go for me, and the only V12 Ferrari road cars I really liked was the 512bbi. The TR's used to appeal to me but they just seem dated to me, and I maintain nothing good (car wise) ever came out of the 80's...

Hey Mike,

I love the 355 berlinetta too and would consider one IF I thought I could
afford the maintenance. Engine-out belt changes are pretty pricey and NOT
something I can do at home.

Wow I need to show your lists to my wife, She's always
thought I was out of control on the car purchasing front...

Mine:

1976 Dodge Charger, sold it to a dude and had the police
ask me about my "car" two years later when it was
found somewhere in Detroit...
1983 Grand Prix (Survived many years of UP Snow, sold to
another student)
1995 Z-28, two 1/2 years and it shook itself apart... Or
that might have been my driving...
1998 BMW 328is I went Yuppie, traded it for the M3 after a
year.
1999 M3 I went racing, miss this car most out of all the
ones I have sold. Seriously the best all-rounder money can
buy
1999 Mazda Miata, wife's fun car
1991 Ferrari 348ts I really went nuts with the DE's in
this thing, 9000 miles 85% on race tracks in 1 1/2 years,
more real driving than most F car owners do (or are able to
do) their entire ownership, M3 was the DD, was going to
leave it in the ghetto per Clyde but someone bought it from
me instead. Miss this one's sounds and the fact it
could scare you pretty good if you f'ed up.
2001 Corvette Z06 Got tired of being passed while racing,
once I had the SM I traded this for a Porsche to force me to
take the SM to the track.... Had an off at 110+ in this one
once... That left a mark. Faster than everything in its
day/Model Year.
1993 Mazda Miata. My first real race car (Spec Miata) 400
hp down to 110... Teaches you how to really drive.
1999 Audi A6 (Wife's unstoppable car)
2002 Porsche Boxster... Very Yellow, and I miss this one a
bunch.
2005 Toyota 4Runner (wife's new car/tow vehicle)
2001 M3 Had a second kid, needed the back seats, Boxster
had to go... Sold last June after it started getting very
leaky, miss the Eisenmann exhaust sounds...
2008 VW GTI 4-door (current DD), my first VW and first FWD
car, so far its awesome
2005 Corvette Coupe (current track day/toy car) was going
to be a Lotus or another F-car but it was a too good to pass
up deal on a an essentially new Vette with a warranty to
2012... I'll probably keep this one its pretty solid,
what happened with your C6 Jim?).

One of these days I'll spring for another F car, but
its definitely low on the priority list, in all honesty they
have not turned out cars that are super interesting to me
lately (Really can you even get a manual in a new one
anymore?), the only one I would really want is an F355
coupe... The new Mas GT and 8C are far far prettier than
what Maranello churns out these days.

nasty
winters.

traded in on
the Mazda when I moved to Utah.

California
1998 Lotus Esprit V8 - LNDSHRK "the
sequel" -
traded in on Lisa's 2001 M3
2000 BMW M Roadster - Yellow and black - a lease
for Lisa,
and how she realized
                       exactly how big of a
"car
nut" I am.

Wrecked by an idiot with a
full-size
van within 6 moths. :(
2001 BMW M Roadster - SUNSHRK - BMW Individual 1
of 1 in
Sterling Grau
2001 BMW M3 - Lisa's car - it had problems
from day 1
and she hated it.
traded in on her Grand Cherokee -
and was
our last BMW until late 2006.
2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee (Lisa's) sold to her
Mom -
they still have/love it.
2003 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon - my "Rubi" -
'from my cold dead hands'!
2002 Corvette Z06 - electric blue on black - sold
to a
friend
2003 Corvette Z06 - millenium yellow on black -
sold to pay
for house.
2005 Toyota Prius - Lisa's - traded in on the
Highlander - more room for baby :)
2006 Corvette Z06 - made GM buy this flawed piece
of shit
back!
2007 BMW 335i - a lease for business R&D.
2000 BMW M Roadster - another one - bought it for
Lisa as
it exactly
matched the one I got her
when we
were engaged.
2009 BMW M3 Sedan - LNDSHRK #3 - my car - Sparking
Graphite
on black
2009 Toyota Highlander Hybrid limited - due here a
week
from Monday.

Vehicle I love(d) the most? My Jeep Wrangler - I
was going
to buy an F360 2 years
ago - but I would have had to trade in my Jeep - I
couldn't do it.
