Thanks to Bubba, I got to see up close and real the Chaps. In the 60s Hall had the big wings first - ayep - two of them per car. Wha? Ayep. One in the nose where the radiator woulda been and the big flipper visible wing tied directly to rear uprights.

Hall had 'em first in the mid 60s!

I want to install a foot pedal for aero devices onto my minivan.

WOW! I can't believe modern technology. Movable wings? What will they think of next??

Oh, wait . . . I remember seeing the three Mercedes SLR cars at the 1955 LeMans doing about 180 MPH, lined up nose to tail like a big freight train?at the end of the back straight with their big rear wings suddenly flipping downward to help slow them down.

That was back in the day that the term, 'pulling a train' had a much more simple and innocent meaning. <g>

And didn't Jim Hall have a similiar device?sticking up on the back of his Chaparrals back in the late '60s??or was that just a flashback from the greatful Dead concert that I went to the weekend before the Race??

I guess the old song was right after all. 'Everything old is new again.'

Yeah, that was cool. I believe one of the teams, perhaps Red Bull, has a
movable front wing, but they can't really get both halves of the wing
segment to move at *exactly* the same time.

Did you see the segment on the movable front wing flap done by Jock
Clear of Brawn GP? He indicated that the drivers can use the flap to
increase front down force in order to get closer in the curves and then
slingshot pass on the straights.

anti-drafting device. That's a lot of hyphenated words in one sentence!
