Hey Fellippe,
I know others say they are around - but like you, I'll probably never see one. It probably requires time in So Cal or Miami/Palm Beach to increase the possibility.

But look on the bright side - you've got a 959 and a near naked friend to help you search for a GTO! ;-)

Great story Doug - as always. Just out of curiosity - did anyone ever
import the 288GTO? Twin turbo V8 IIRC ?
I'll bet it screamed. Of course, I'm a huge 959 fan - the ultimate
Porsche - but you can have a similar car in the newer 911 AWD Turbo. Same
concept with different tactics for reaching the conclusion....

IMO The 288 would have been a sleeper - many people would have called it
a "Magnum Ferrari" which it is similar to - but beneath those wide fender
flairs and additional scoops and aero aides is a whole nuther ball game. I
wish I could hear those twin turbos spool up in anger (in person) - I'll
bet
it's not something that is soon forgotten.

Later ya'll -

Larry,

There are 288s in the US....how many of the allegedly 272 ever made, don't
know. But I know they're super rare because I've yet to see one in my 29 1/2
years of looking at cars! :)

I'd probably drive a good hour or two just to see one....not drive one, not
even ride in one, just to see one!!! So deprived in NYC, all we have are
430s and Gallardos. :)

I hope seeing one for the first time will be special and not a letdown...I'm
gonna guess the $600k price tag will reflect that it won't be a
disappointment. :)
