Easy way to see one is here in DC, there is at least one, possible two in 
private hands.

Cavallino Classic and the Pocono event(s) is/are good as well.

I have ridden in a 288 but never driven one. The boost in 70mph in 3rd gear is 
wonderful...tire smoke and counter steer is the way driving should be done.

    I know others say they are around - but like you, I'll probably never 
see one.  It probably requires time in So Cal or Miami/Palm Beach to 
increase the possibility.

    But look on the bright side - you've got a 959 and a near naked friend 
to help you search for a GTO! ;-)
