Also get the full coverage on the car 
They routinly brake into rental cars in Italy
Don leave anything in the car nothing not even used condoms!

Easy drive on the A1.   Make certain your dealer sets up the factory tour.  
Stay in downtown Modena.  

Depending on your interests...return Florence/Livorno/Genoa/Milan by A12
or parallel beach road in no less than 5 leisurely days.  
Last trip we stopped in Bonassola but virtually any small town is good.

Personally I'd rather rent (base the trip) in Paris or Rome.
