Hi Gang -
I bought a 5 port switch a few years ago that I was never able to use.
Came across it yesterday and looked at the instructions for hooking it up. It
says to attach a cable modem to the switch but that won't work without a router
- which I found out when I tried to use it like that ;-( So I bought a router
and once connected to the cable modem I was in business. I attached my laptop
and desktop to it and have been working like that since.
But I keep wondering about the switch. When is it used? Could I connect
it after the router to give myself additional ports? Can I hook anything other
than computers to the switch? I'm thinking things like printers and ext HDs.
Sorry to bother everyone with this -
Thx -
