I agree with you, but after looking at how utterly WRECKED the coolant passages 
are inside my engine, and the amount of work being done to clear all of the 
blockages inside the motor, I might go with the BMW stuff for at least a year 
or two.....

If you drain and flush your cars cooling systems yearly you will not have any 
issues
Its cheap insurance and you get a chance to look over your car

My mechanic swears-by BMW antifreeze (at $60/gallon), being the proper 
formulation for all-aluminum engines - he hates Prestone or other off-the-shelf 
products as never having done their homework for all-aluminum blocks, and what 
they need....not sure his feelings about running pure water/water-wetter in 
there, but we'll have to discuss that much-later down the road....

Michael something that helps there is to fill the cooling system with just 
water  - a much more efficient heat transfer medium than the typical 50-50 
winter mix. Try it you'll be amazed.
