If you still want to remove the water pump you will have to remove the large
front engine cover on that side
Then loosen the 2 bolts and gently tap the pump housing off
Once it is off you will see the impeller
A word of caution here if you have to apply more pressure than it takes to open
a twist off bottle of beer stop right there
Go get some vasaline for your rectum and continue
The reason for the vaseline will be obvoius later on!

Hi listers,

it's been a while since I last posted here, but here goes a couple
of Ferrari questions! :-)

I'm helping a friend with a full service on a 88' TR. We currently have the
engine out, cam covers out, all valve clearances measured (three need
adjustment). We are of course going to replace the belts and tensioners, as
well as all cam seals, etc, etc.

Questions are

- to remove the water pump is it enough to remove the two screws that hold
it's cover or do we need to remove the front engine cover, which would
require both belts to be removed, as well as the camshaft pulley?

- if we need to remove the pulley, is it a left or right thread bolt?

Thanks!

Rui

P.S. - My friend has posted this on FChat at
