Hmmmmm - interesting bottom line there Clyde. heh heh

I worked with a fellow who had about the same philosophy - used to go around asking the rhetorical question when asked if one should do this or that - He would ask "do you know how to keep a hard on? Don't fuck with it." While it never made sense to me then, as a 19 year old, - after all, what DO you DO with a hard on - - - but then he was quite a bit older, maybe in his 50's and pretty surly so I never fucked with him.

Ok here is the real answer if the pump is not leaking

Don't break the seal and don't fuck with it.

There is a delicate carbon seal on the back side of the impeller that if you
should disturb this balance you will only know when you put the car back
together and run it.

But by then it will be to late

So what I would do is inspect the housing and that's it.

That is what I did when I did the recent service on my car and I talked to
the lead tech at Ferrari ATL and he said the same this

DON'T FUCK WITH IT !

Hopefully you got this message in time

Subject: [Ferrari] How to remove TR water pump

Hi listers,

it's been a while since I last posted here, but here goes a couple

of Ferrari questions! :-)

I'm helping a friend with a full service on a 88' TR. We currently have the

engine out, cam covers out, all valve clearances measured (three need

adjustment). We are of course going to replace the belts and tensioners, as

well as all cam seals, etc, etc.

Questions are

- to remove the water pump is it enough to remove the two screws that hold

it's cover or do we need to remove the front engine cover, which would

require both belts to be removed, as well as the camshaft pulley?

- if we need to remove the pulley, is it a left or right thread bolt?

Thanks!

Rui
