Is that when the guy at the controls asked if the pilot was aboard yet? ;-)

Take the helicopter ride. It starts out normal but then just after you go
over the edge your cought in a downdraft and the pilot
is adding power & collective to counter it. you loose a couple hundred feet. We did in the choppers like were used in Whirlybirds (a old tv show). After
that I was hanging out the chopper taking pictures like crazy.

hi all,

i am taking my 11-year old son down to vegas next weekend for chinese new
year and also taking a couple of days to see the grand canyon.

it is shameful of me i know but i have never been to the grand canyon.
would any of you offer some tips to us? for example -

1. go to the north rim? or the south?

2. is it a one-day visit? or should i stay a night?

3. any "must-sees"? like caverns and stuff..

4. nice place to eat? lizardburger?

just fyi, we will be flying in to vegas and renting a car to drive there.
after the visit, we would need to drive back to vegas, return the car, and
fly home.

i know some of you are thinking why i don't go to the web and research -
the web is full of grand canyon stuff - problem is they are mostly
commercial sites that try to steer you to patronize them. so i thought to
turn to my friends here and get some trusted advices.

thanks in advance.
