I've kept up the subscription over the years out of habit and have been somewhat bored by the articles but this month seems like a throwback to the old days.
Highlights with paraphrased summaries:
1) 308 QV motor bored out to 3.5 liters - 303 hp/259-lb-ft of torque (this was the dyno figure, although they didn't say RWHP exactly like that)
Summary: "Power felt wonderful...faster than a 348, almost as fast a 355. Only issue was the handling deficiencies were more pronounced with the stock suspension, but making tweaks in this area should eleviate the problem".
2) 275 GTB/4 vs 365 GTS/4 Daytona Spyder (both yellow/black)
Summary: "Daytona is far more powerful and handles better but the 275 is lighter and more communicative. I really like the daytona but the 275 feels more fun to drive, and the owner agrees with me."
3) Major service on a 360 - details of the work done at Norwood
4) History of Ferrari transmissions used in Formula 1 - includes the genesis of the paddle shift semiautomatic transmission....it was originally conceived to deal with the abnormalities of the turbocharged power delivery of the '80s cars, not so much a way to produce lightning fast shifts.
5) NART Revisited - show at Saratoga Springs highlights the gorgeous cars from the NART era
6) Market Update - Michael Sheehan goes over the market for the three major eras (Enzo era up to the fiat purchase, the Fiat era up to early '90s, and the Montezemelo era since then)
7) Mansory 599 - Not a huge fan of this machine although an 800 hp supercharged 6.0 liter V12 deserves a read regardless....355 rear tires to boot!
And the usual F1 talk as well.
The one article that probably seemed most interesting was the 308 project....wonder how much that would cost??
