We spent about a week in Modena, using it as a base to see all the various

car sights.  Great little city.  Liked it much more than Florence, etc.

Sat near the Duomo drinking each night, puzzling over whether the

old church was really indeed crooked, or if it was an illusion from

all the booze.

 

BTW, if you search out waaaay out of the way little piazzas in Venice,

you will find great food at very reasonable prices.  We found a little

piazza that wasn't more than a 6 iron away from the Grand Canal, but

the route to get there was very convoluted.  There were a pair of old

men arguing on a park bench, a couple of ladies with strollers chatting,

and a few kids kicking around a soccer ball.  We sat outside of a

little osteria for several hours drinking and eating, and only saw maybe

a half dozen tourists pass thru.  It was a whole different world......

We are arriving in Milan (Contential, sorry Clyde) on the 20th. Plan to drive to Monaco and Pisa b4 the 25TH and coming back 29th of May.
