HOA's - oh boy. Our wooden fences were painted a tanish color. I got notice to paint ours. I did I had some simi gloss exterior paint I used to paint the underside of the 66 VW - - Sea Sand. It was pretty close to original fence color. Then there was a big stink about the color was wrong. I told them the guys fence across the street was faded and I had my VW painted to match the fence. Wha ? ? ? No, really - the guys across the street fence is faded - THIS is the correct color. Oh, uh, ok. And that was the end of the story. Heck

Interesting. In my old neighborhood, having a garage full of exotics meant to the HOA that there was no end to the number of $25 fines you must be able to pay for such hateful crimes as exposing a garbage can or having a mailbox that was slightly the wrong shade of green.

Hence our recent move...

We still care, but there is more of a live and let live view here.
House prices in my neighborhood are in the 180/sqft range, so we're not what everything thinks we are. But having talked to my HOA, if you have a garage full of Ferraris, you either are a flesh eating lawyer or know one and are left alone.

the current situation in many neighborhoods across the country.

Stuff like this will never happen in fly over country, one of the
advantages of being an Alabama redneck.

Sort of an open letter. Stockbridge, MA? Isn't that where Norman

still around to paint Americana as the old Post magazine and others
would have us believe it to be - Ol' Jeff woulda been one of the
central characters. How things have changed. Maybe we can
transport a hundred or so rival genuine gang members from Los
Angeles - ya know, like the Crips or Bloods or 18th Street Gang back
to the old neighborhood - ya know, put the word "hood" back in
neighborhood. See if they dare reenact the Christmas Street Scene
painting of 1957 (?). Bet the grisly ol bunch of town folk would
beg Jeff to have his "gang" back. Eh? I dunno, I could be wrong.

We've filed the appeal with the court in Boston.

The appeal process could take a year or more.

We do not live in a gated community, these are private homes in a
heavily wooded area.

We are in Stockbridge, MA.

Other developments are we're getting some help from Hagerty and the
HVA (_www.historicvehicle.org_ (http://www.historicvehicle.org/) ).
They are also doing a story for their newsletter about this.

There is also an editorial appearing in vintage Motorsport
(_www.vintagemotorsport.com_ (http://www.vintagemotorsport.com/) )
