Thanks!   Its going back together now, at least the carpet bit.  I am still 
cutting
pieces from bulk carpet and waiting for edge binding for a few pieces but the 
ugly
work is done.  The new A/C parts are being manufactured and they will go in 
easily
as the requirement is for easy plug-n-play.  We will then have a KIT to upgrade 
any
308 to modern A/C without changing the appearance or making any irreversible
changes.  More on that as it evolves.

Here's a look at the new carpet, trial fitted to the rear bulkhead.
