Yes the bonnet is off. But I can't start it. It is stored for winter. But both fans always came on together when the temperature passed 195. Plus, I have a switch (put on by previous owner) under the steering wheel and I can start both fans anytime I want to. I always use that switch just a bit before it gets to 195.
But back to my question: Is it worth having the inside of the radiator cleaned ? Let's not forget it's a 30-year old radiator. The outside looks great.

Michael -

Well, hmmm, so you may still have the hood (bonnet) off, yes?  Plugged the AC lines?  How hard is it to put in radiator - minding that you may want to remove it again - and do a test run w/o the AC condenser in the way.  The other thing - is your fan switch working?  Do you "burp" your mistress before toddling about?
Our 78 used to get up there too but I replaced the fan switch and that seemed to make a difference.  Make sure both fans come on when the engine is hot.  I have seen it where it gets confused with the AC and only one fan comes on unless the AC was turned on.  Maybe mine has a gremlin.

Yes overheating problem at slow speed in town. But my AC never worked in 9 years I have had the car. I  never tried to find out why.So, I thought, if I take the condenser out, which I did and it is REALLY REALLY beat up, I'll have more air going directly to the radiator. Hopefully it will help.
But like I wrote, I cleaned the outside and painted it BEFORE asking about the importance of cleaning the inside. My bad.

Why did you take the radiator out in the first place?
Overheating problems?

1981 308 GTSi: I took the radiator out and cleaned the outside  and straightened every single blade. I painted it too.
My question is, is it really worth to have it send to a shop to have the inside cleaned ?
I was told they put it in a tank in special liquid. Now my brand new paint will be ruined. I'll have to paint it again. Not that painful to do, but I just need to know if it's worth having it put in a tank ?

Thank you!
