My first known Ferrari sighting was a Pontoon TR at Santa Barbara races in 1960.  I was a Jr in HS.  I still have the pictures.  He finished fourth or so behind Max Balchowski’s Old Yeller, Ken Miles driving a Carrera Porsche Speedster and Dale (?) Drake driving a Corvette powered D Jag.

 

First drive?  My 78 308 GTS after it was delivered from Minn MN to Moorpark CA.

Who has yet to drive ANY Corvette.  Now look guys & gals – I’ve been a car guy since I was 12 years old staring out our front window, practicing my violin, and counting the new 1955 Fords as they drove up Van Ness Blvd – the separation line between Los Angeles and Inglewood – and later when I needed to go to the dentist on Stocker St I’d take an early bus just to ogle Harry Mann’s used car lot full of Corvettes – white with turquoise - yummy – but to date – just haven’t.  Been in plenty – just never driven one.  One day tho.
