Weight and compactness of engine. Chains need to be lubricated as mentioned as well as covered in metal casings. This adds to cost and weight of engine and heavier chains put added stress on cams and gears. Lightweight belts are lighter quieter and make engine itself more compact. Maintenance is of course higher especially when you need to pull the engine to change belts.  Most cars need simple belt tensioner and water pump changed at this service.  Ferrari need finicky seals and labor intensive items done as well making this very pricey.

True.  Also keep in mind that belts don't need lubrication.  I imagine that's a factor somehow.  Would there be a cost benefit of not having to lube a belt v. having to lube a chain?
