The Corvette V8 is very light compared to other
V8s at about 400lbs.  That's only about 100lbs heavier
than the Dino V6.  It's about the same or lighter than
many 6 cylinder engines - especially inline 6 cyl.

The Stalker was originally designed around a supercharged 
Buick V6, but few use that option anymore after finding out
that the Corvette V8 weighs less.

But what if one dropped a Dino 206/246 motor in there? How cool would that be? 160-200 hp would be great so long as it didn't weigh a whole lot. I can't imagine a Dino powered Caterham weighing more than 1500 lbs.

I know what you're thinking.....there are other motors that make more sense in terms of weight, power, reliability. Of course....but this is an F motor we're talking about! The most important part of a Ferrari. :)

The firing order of the Dino V6 is similar to the V12.....they sound like mini V12s, no? hehe. 

Originally the idea came from seeing Elises with the plebian Celica motor.....and I remembered that the Dino motor went into the lighter Stratos for nice results. Caterhams weighing about 1000 lbs less than an Elise probably makes even more sense.

Just have to figure out what transmission to put in, and make that work. Not sure if the mid to front engine deal would be an issue. Maybe go all out and get that Dino transmission in there, with the gated shifter too!

And as expensive as Dinos are these days to buy as a whole car, I can't imagine the crate motor being any more expensive than it was a few years ago.

Of course once you are braced and accepting of this idea, the next level is to source an NOS 166 Mille Miglia V12, and do the same thing. LOL.

I've limited the displacement to around 2.5 liters, but if you feel we can go bigger and still be ok I'm fine with it. :)

All of this has to be better than a V12 in a Jeep Wagoneer....
