Isn't that the same story with the high performance 911 and  BMW models also?

They've been dethroned on the road courses by their competition and now are better suited to the dragstrip due to all of the electronics?

I never thought I'd see the day...

Clyde,

The GTR is being bought by any combination of the following:

a) Japanese/GTR fanboys
b) Big pocket players who like its daily driver performance
c) Exotic owners who pick up the GTR strictly for drag racing (1000+ hp) potential

Don't agree with it, but that's what I've seen.

I find it especially funny that the GTR is actually a competent track car but is used more often to win races on a different track....the strip.

BMW has long lost it's way.

First, they should change their name to BTW.

They long have abandoned "motors" for "turbos".

If I wanted a turbo german car, I'd buy an Audi.

SYNTHETIC engine note?  That should be a capital offense.

I have the last "real" BMW ever made, the E9x M3.

I'll trade it in on another F car (post divorce) in a heartbeat.

My F430 was more reliable.

The new M3s have 'shakers' on the firewall, and play noise through the

Source: Car and Driver magazine. So fake! Who wants an M3 that sounds
like a Camaro? And who wants an M3 with a smaller engine? I'd bet BMW is
soon to find out!
