This is all good advice, at least as pertains to Ferrari and old Mercedes parts. I foolishly bought a 1974 450sl at an auction thinking it was a convertible that looked nice and would be a fun car for drives in the country and to the beach. Turns out that year is not favored in the marketplace, not that I cared a lot, but that the cost of getting it mechanically where I wanted it to be was an order of magnitude higher than the price of the best '74 SL in the world. It had to go. That said, there are a lot of great old cars without computers that are fun to drive and that have a lot of personality. Modern Ferrari performance is so far above what you can use on today's streets and highways that I think you could be arrested and still be bored by your speed, all at the same time. Newer Ferraris are pretty capable but the older ones are a lot more fun. John Sent from my ATT Bell Rotary Dial Phone
