Hang in there... Many times I've beat my head trying to figure out a way to get to things, or skinned my knuckles even without trying hard - and the GT4 has better access than the successive 3x8 series! - but the job does get done eventually. Take some breathers every once in a while, it's better for the mind and body to give yourself a break. Remember, you're not paying someone else to do the job so you can afford to take longer!

I think the worst job I've ever done was the EGR service on my old diesel Smart car. The dealer charges 5 hours labor and I thought they were taking me for a ride! When I did it the first time, it took me 8 hours! You wouldn't think it because it's RIGHT THERE in plain sight, but you need to take the rear bumper and chassis structure off to get access to the lower bolts and exhaust connection flange! Just before I got rid of the car, I worked it down to 4 1/2 hours (out, cleaned and reinstalled)... I was glad to get rid of it. Excellent concept, terrible execution.

Oh yea before you start this tortuous drill get something soft to put over the RedHeads

Lesson learned Anytime engine comes out

Align hose clamps

Replace thermostat 

Always!!!!

Man is this a pain ass still don't have the unit off 

Luckily when I did do the thermostat years back I put anti seize on the threads that hold the unit in place 

That would have been a real bitch removing those 2 10 mm nuts had they been frozen on

Mae sure the hose clamps are perpendicular to the car so that you can loosen them if you have to that’s my major issue right now

Getting to the 7mm nuts to loosen the hose clamps
