Uncle Clyde notes – “People are lazy and will not change fuel filters and that causes problems” Generally filters, the older (more used) they get, work better and better – until the moment that nothing gets through - - - air, oil, condensed a/c fluids, and fuel. That is until the moment if they burst. Then ho boy – 20 years ago we bought our ’78 carbed 308. Came from Kansas and the second owner in Minneapolis. Going thru the previous owners paperwork – many, Many, MANY bills for carb overhaul. Why? Turns out first owner took the car to Guido, the prized Ferrari, Ford F250 and lawnmower shop in West Bumscrew Kansas kept putting the wrong tractor filter in the fuel filter housing. When we took it down for new fluids service 3 days after it arrived here - there it was – a too small filter cocked to one side. Why even use a filter? Alas. DOUG |
